The negotiations for a trade agreement between Mercosur and the European Union had on Thursday a new instance of dialogue, the Foreign Ministry of Argentina, the country holding the Presidency Pro Tempore of the South American bloc said.
Through a video conference chief negotiators of both groups of countries exchanged some ideas that were required, while in an indefinite situation was the exchange of offers.
According to the statement, Mercosur reiterated the European Union, which has a “supply of goods, services, investment and government procurement ambitious and balanced”.
However, the European bloc said it “has not yet completed the process of internal consultations with Member States on their own offer,” which provides “conclude as soon as possible”.
Negotiations between the two groups is delaying the instance of exchange offers, which inevitably lock the advancement of the dialogue process.
The truth is that the exchange of offers underwent several reschedulings since talks were resumed in 2010 by proposal of the European Commission, most recently in June.
“The parties agreed to resume contacts based on developments promptly inform the Community authorities in order to give continuity to the negotiations.”
